Etheriest Discussion Thread

Setting: Modern Day; Coldrion City

Long ago, humans emerged as "mutants" among society, just a select few with magical abilities. They became known as Force Users, bending the Force of their mana for the better strength of humankind. At first, they were awed and feared, but later, they were accepted into the fold as a normalcy. The need for their abilities sped technology forward at a quickened pace, both for those scientifically and magically inclined.

As the years passed, Force Users became more and more common--so common, in fact, that they became the more dominant of the world's population. For every one human, there are three force users. Being a Force user isn't considered any more or less special than it is to be a normal human and they live together peacefully.

It is the year 2015 and Force Users are now known as Etheriests. The technology is as any modern technology should be (cell phones, computers, internet, etc.), though there are two forms of technology: Ether Tech and regular tech. Ether tech is the same ans regular tech, except that it has an Ether ability infused within it. All ether tech is temporary--as soon as the ether fades from it, the tech becomes useless and must be replaced or recharged. Despite its energy limit and cost, Ether Tech usually works with far more efficiency than regular tech, which is why it is still sometimes used.

Additionally, Ether tech is more expensive and less stable. This means that every time the Ether fades from the device or unit that you are using, you must pay to have it recharged by an Etheriest or replace it with regular tech. Since recharging is usually done through the company that you purchased it from, that usually also makes recharging an expensive process. However, if you can find an Etheriest that works privately with the correct ability to recharge a device, you may get it for a cheaper price.

Welcome to Delacroix University

University Headmaster: Jenia Delacroix (Jen - ya * Day - luh - kwah)



Delacroix University is one of the first Universities to offer both Academic Schooling for both Etheriests and Non-Ether Users alike. It is also the first Etheriest University to offer classes for non-traditional students, opening their halls and dorms for those of all ages. (Though you must be at least 16 to attend this University.)

Founded by the Delacroix siblings and their father fifteen years ago, it wasn't long before the three split up in their differences and went separate ways. The eldest of the siblings, Jenia, stayed on the University and kept it going on her own for the past four years. The success of the school has increased since then, almost doubling in profits and population.

A lot of the improvement is due to Jenia's hard work and dedication to her students, but there is also the competition that it has with two other organizations that have motivated the University's steady growth so strongly. (These other organizations will be discussed in a later post.)

It is the second-cheapest University in Coldrion for tuition costs, but offers dormitory rooms where other universities do not. Some scholarships can be gained, though a full-scholarship is difficult to obtain and must have many requirements met, both before and during University attendance.

The University ranks its students into two categories: Advanced Students and just Students. Advanced Students are comprised of the top fifty students of every course subject (Such as Aura Training, Mathematics, Physics, Elemental Studdies, etc.) that is taught. This means that advanced students aren't just Etheriests, but consist of normal people, as well.

There is not a University uniform of any kind, just as most Universities do not have one, but an Advanced Student receives a newly designed Student ID card that shows their status in the top class and grants them special privileges that regular students do not have access to.

The Advanced Student ID card grants access to an additional cafeteria, premium dorm rooms, a premium training yard, and a discount on all textbooks and other university fees that are not covered in tuition. The tuition for an Advanced Student is the same as it is for a regular student.

Company Founder & Owner: Zorlias Delacroix (Zor - lie - us * Day - luh - kwah)

This Company was founded four years ago and has spread out in rapid speed, thanks to the assistance of many great friends of the Founder, Zorlias Delacroix. Despite the fact that he is quiet and difficult to chat with on most cases, his staunch support towards those he would consider his friends has never left him with a shortage of allies.

Zorlias Corp has spread across acres of land along Coldrion's edge and consists of fifteen separate buildings. Each building covers a different division or sub-division of the company, all with various focuses and profit margins. Their general services all focuses around Etheriests and what they can provide for the people in all practical situations.

Despite the mild feud with the Delacroix University that is located nearby (in fact, that University is just down the road from one of the company's main buildings), Zorlias' expansion into new divisions and fields of study has yet to be hindered. Anyone over the age of 18 is free to work here and the application for a position is free. However, some jobs are not available to certain employees without specific training and/or Ether Ability types.

Coldrion Etheriest Task Enforcers

CETE Chief: Cynric Delacroix (Sin-rick * Day - luh - kwah)

The Coldrion Etheriest Task Enforcers, also known at CETEs (Seats), are the police force of Coldrion City and it is run by none other than Aravis Delacroix, the original founder of Delacroix University. Father to two children that love to feud, he has strategically placed his own establishment as a middle man between the trouble makers.

Although the original purpose was to keep the peace between the Delacroix children and their constant, inner battles, it has grown in power over the last four years and has become the main law enforcement over the entire city. There are several police stations throughout the city's limits, but the main branch is located just across the road from Delacroix University...a factor that the founder of the CETE openly claims to be a mere "coincidence."

There are two types of CETEs, the Agents and the Assistants. All CETEs are required to take a bi-yearly exam that assess their skills in battle. Protective Ability Exams must have a 90% Score or higher. Defensive or Offensive abilities must score in the 50%+ range in order to continue within the CETE program. Additionally, you must be at least 18 to be accepted into the CETE program.

Assistants require Etheriest training with the Etheriest Class of at least 4, though literal schooling is not required and one can be self taught, since Assistants only have responsibility over minor tasks and cases. They obtain a green and brown uniform and a silver badge and can only fulfill official CETE quests while in Uniform.

Assistants are meant for ground support when numbers are needed. They aren't as familiar with the laws or regulations that must be followed by an Agent and they are generally partnered with an Agent as support when on duty. This class of CETE is primarily meant for peacekeeping and other small duties and never handle important cases alone.

Agents require Etheriest training with the Etheriest Class of at least 2 and at least one year of University teaching must be had in order to be eligible for this CETE class. They obtain a green and gold uniform and a gold badge and can only fulfill official CETE Quests while having their badge on their person. There are three exams that must be passed in order to become an Agent. A written exam over the laws, a psychological exam, and a field exam for battle.

An Agent is a primary officer that is never required to have support and can handle more important cases, such as homicides and Ether Misuse. They are well versed in the law and are expected to enforce that law in any situation. Although they cannot handle most cases without a Uniform, should they stumble across a case without one and only their badge, their process of CETE procedure will not be hindered.

CETE is Primarily for Etheriests, but non-Etheriests do have other squads and police forces that they can be apart of to assist in enforcing the law and solving crimes. If a non-Etheriest is a member of CETE, they are required to have a special badge and must have an Etheriest, Agent partner.

Etheriest Classes


EC1 -- Master Etheriest
You understand your limits and you fully comprehend the science of your aura and why it is essential to you. You can "sense" how much power you have and can contain in your body. Your ability is easy to control and more powerful, area attacks require much less concentration. The unique spell that you began with at EC5 is now easy to use and costs very little. You have five spells/abilities that are unique to your character alone.

EC2 -- Advanced Etheriest
Although you have gained much more understanding over your aura, the "container" of your magic, the understanding of the amount of power that you can hold and your limits are still a struggle for you. However, your power has stabilized further and your signature/unique spells are easy to cast and cost you less Ether. You have four spells/abilities that are unique to your character alone.

EC3 -- Experienced Etheriest
You understand, vaguely, how much power you can hold in your body. You can sense how much power you have at any time, though this does take concentration. Though you haven't grasped the concept of your aura or understand what it means to you, your power is much more stable. You have three spells/abilities that are unique to your character alone.

EC4 -- Stable Etheriest
The science of the aura, as well as the concept of the power within your body is still beyond your understanding. However, you have become familiar with what it feels like when your ability is "active." You can now easily shut it off or on and your ability is much more stable and in more control. You have two spells/abilities that are unique to your character alone.

EC5 -- Beginner Etheriest
You have just learned or recently learned of your ability. You do not understand how to use it, nor do you fully grasp or understand your aura. You cannot sense how much power you have or contain. There is a high chance that you will experience random, uncontrollable magic use in your vicinity or on your person. You have one spell/ability that is unique to your character alone.

Aura vs. Ether

The aura is the life force and/or soul of a living being, whether they are an Etheriest or Non-Etheriest. The aura serves as the conduit to channel Ether in an Etheriest, as a sponge would absorb water. A person's aura, once it has absorbed Ether, can turn that "water" into another form, making it real into an Ether Ability. Essentially, it is the container of one's Ether, and as an Etheriest develops and becomes more skilled, their aura becomes larger, more resilient, expanded, and trained and therefore be able to hold more Ether.

Aura Manipulation/Aura Training is not common or simple to achieve. Most only learn the required aura use associated with their particular magical ability by using their Ether Spells, not by training their Aura specifically. It also takes a certain level of mental and spiritual training. There are, however, exceptions to this, such as Pain and Heal Ether Abilities.

Since your aura is a measure of your life force, in addition to its Ether conversion and containment, an increase to your aura would lengthen your life, where a decrease would shorten it. Hence, an Ether Pain user tends to have a more youthful appearance and live longer than an Ether Heal user, who tends to have a shorter lifespan.

Please note that physical damage does not equal Aura damage.

Mental damage, however, could quite possibly damage your aura. Telepath/Mind torture are some of the most common aura damaging Ether abilities, but this is not always the case, as any ability can vary on the User rather largely. Also note that recovering aura is a slower process than healing from physical wounds--unless healed by an Ether Healer. Having aura damage can affect how efficient and effective your Ether ability is for some time, as well as lead to other mental and emotional disabilities. If you have taken enough aura damage, you will be unable to contain Ether or use your magic ability at all.

An Etheriest's aura, because it is generally trained and used (even to a limited degree by their Ether Ability), tends to have a different texture and 'feel' to it than a Non-Etheriest's aura, but only an Aurist could detect this difference.

Ether
Spoiler:
Ether is mana, or magic. This is drawn from the atmosphere of the planet Aria and is abundant in some areas while less so in others. These concentrations are sometimes labeled incorrectly with the term "ley line" and can quite often appear to be the life-blood of Aria itself. These ley lines are known only by a select few people at this time, and are generally considered classified information. Etheriests cannot draw from ley lines themselves, because the Ether is so raw and pure that it would damage their auras to try to do so and most Etheriests wouldn't not detect the ley line itself, but the increased concentration of Natural Ether in the atmosphere around it.

Most people cannot interact with Ether, even though they possess an aura. However, it is Etheriests who possess an aura capable of interacting with Ether that benefit from the Ether's presence. Though both an aura and Ether can be viewed as types of energy, an aura is organic while Ether is inorganic.

It is not possible for a Etheriest to create Ether with their ability except when they damage their own aura when doing so, which affects their life span and overall health. A person can also damage their aura by attempting to pull too much Ether into their aura or being exposed to too much Ether over a prolonged period of time. An Etheriest can damage their aura by using all of their Ether completely, as this will then drain from their Aura when it has been emptied.


Chordium

Please note that Chordium has not yet been discovered in this role-play. It will be, however, mid-role-play. This is just information for the future.

Chordium is a natural-occurring metal that is highly water soluble and will break down upon contact with salt water and other high saline solutions. It appears as a purple-red color and is found in very small concentrations deep within Aria and at volcanic sites within magma, although the concentration is far less in magma. It is extremely heat resistant, making any sort of forging with it extremely difficult, even by industrial means.

Aside from its resilience to heat and damage, Chordium's most notable feature is its affect and resonance to Ether. Ether, in close proximity to Chordium, temporarily becomes non-convertable by aura manipulation in about a thirty foot radius.

Side Affects from Chordium exposure include the following:
Rashes, discoloration of the skin with physical contact, decreased heart-rate, increased chances of headaches, heart burn, ulcers, dizziness, weakness, fever, chills, and increased risk of a stroke, bone & heart cancer.

Religion

Makarists
Makarists are the followers of the "One God," also known as the "Maker." The Maker is believed to be the creator of the planet Aria and all life within it. Makarists believe that there are no other deities or demi-gods, or any form similar to that stature. They believe that anyone that is not a Makarists may not have an eternal life after death.

Makarists have relaxed lifestyle, except for those of the church, which is active and strongly involved in various countries of the world, especially in Coldrion, where Markarists are the form of government and are most dominant in the lifestyle of the people. It is one of the oldest sites of worship and has some of the oldest buildings that survive the test of time and are landmarks for their older architecture.


Atheists
Atheism is simple. An Atheist has no religion. They simply believe that the Maker does not, nor never has existed. They also do not believe in any of the other minor religions that have cropped up here and there over time. Atheists are most commonly avid followers of science and do not believe that science and religion should intertwine, but not all atheists feel this way.

Other religions also exist, they are just less common.

Additionally, I'd like to state that if you are EC1, you're required to have all five unique spells listed in detail. If you are EC3, then you only need up to three of them, and so on. Please make sure each unique spell is appropriate for each difficulty/power level.

I have changed a registration rule. You can now have a weapon for your character, regardless of whether or not your ability is offensive or defensive. However, the weapon and magical ability cannot be used at the same time unless your ability is defensive only.

If you're uncertain of what kind of weapon to use or do not know if your character is eligible for weapon use while using your power, just ask and I can help you.

Still, there are NO GUNS.

Additionally, the role-play will begin during next weekend, so any unapproved characters by that point will need to wait to join during that time. All characters that are approved will be announced in this thread. Any characters that aren't approved will be unapproved for a reason, so you'll need to edit your characters with the necessary edits in order to have that changed.

If you don't know why your character isn't approved, it is probably because of one of the following reasons:
1) A layout slot isn't filled out.
2) The layout sample specifications aren't fulfilled.
3) A registration rule is broken.

Once you have edited and would like to be able to join the role-play, just let me know and I'll check your character again at that point.

Prestige Land Inc.


Founded 26 years ago, the company is well known for both its electronics and ether technology. The company started by selling electronics only, but always had its own style that was very different than the traditional electronics one would see. And so it became really popular really quickly as people wanted to look cool so to say with the latest technology advancement. They eventually introduced the ether technology after developing it in the background for some time. A lot of people thought it was amazing, although many of them also stayed away from it at first as the cost for recharge was expensive. As the demand went up however, the price dropped recently for it to be more available to everyone. In fact one of their latest product, a hover board is the fury of the moment. They have several buildings over the country of Abraeles as well as a few other countries. Their headquarters are within the city of Ethya, which is to compare on distance much further south than Coldrion is. The said city is located near a large lake and separated into two by a river.

The press will often covers how gorgeous the CEO of Prestige Land Inc. is. It mentions many positive things like how innovative they are and how the hover boards are a big trend that is growing. Although the press doesn't really mention the gadgets they make for the military as the CEO pays them not to as he believe some of these products may not be liked by all. Some mercenary or private agencies may have access to the information and ask for some orders sometimes however and he is more than happy to deliver. The press bad points of the company though often would cover that the price for ether recharges may be too expensive, however with the recent trend of hover board they opened a service of subscription of recharges to have unlimited per month for one price. So that people who use those a lot could recharge for cheaper which was greatly appreciated.

As for getting a job there it is not too hard to enter as there are many positions that opens within all the buildings that he has. It wouldn't be as easy to know the dark roots of the company however, but what they find on the surface could be used for darker projects underneath which pretty much nobody, but his pawns and most trusted allies knows about. They often higher people within the research and development as well as the production department.

Etherball


The Etherball stadium begins with an Ether grid--a checkered, double colored, and transparent grid that hovers fifteen feet over the ground. The grid appears after the activation of a device, known as the Grid Shot, which "shoots" it into the air instantly at the size of an even square that is 500ft X 500ft (250 X 250 Grid Squares, since each square is 2ft X 2ft).

Underneath the transparent grid, there is always a softener for participants to land on, but this varies by where the game is being held. Many Universities and companies tend to use general padding, but a few championship games have included water pits, ball pits, and once, there was also a jello pit.

It is important to understand that the Etherball Grid is expelled from the Grid Shot as an Etheriest Ability--this means that the grid, itself, is an Ether Ability, made from Ether Tech where the Grid Shot was fused with a barrier Etheriest's power. Since not all Grid Shots are manufactured by the same company and do not come from the Etheriest, Ether Grids vary in appearance and color. (Ex. Orange & Black Hexagons, White and Clear Squares, etc.)

The object of the game is to force your opponents or opposing team members (this game can be played either team vs. team or battle royale) off of the grid and into the pit or padding below. It takes the attack power of an EC3 Ether Attack in order to remove a single Grid Square. EC2 Attacks can remove anywhere from 2 - 5 Grid Squares and EC1 Attacks can remove anywhere from 4 - 10 Grid Squares.

Each player is provided "Ether Crystals," which come in various colors and are generally color coded for teams or individual players so that crystals aren't mixed up after they have been thrown/used/activated. You can use an Ether Crystal by throwing, touching it against the Grid, or kicking it into the Grid. If an Ether Crystal is thrown into an opponent's body, it does not harm them, but it does push them backwards across the grid.

An Ether Crystal is activated by allowing the Crystal to absorb Ether from the Etheriest before it is thrown or used. As long as an Etheriest still has Ether, they're in good condition to continue in the game. (Running out of Ether does not disqualify you or end the game for you...you're just going to have a much harder time.)

At this point, you're probably wondering: "Why is it called Etherball?" The answer is simple--there will, in fact, be a ball placed onto the grid by the referee after the game has began. The referee can enter the Etherball onto the grid whenever he or she desires--at the very beginning, or not until there are only a few players remaining.

The Etherball is a ball of Ether that is attracted to the Ether Grid, and it bounces about from here to there without end. Players can touch, kick, grab, throw, or deflect this ball, if they so desire--when the Etherball touches a Grid square, the single square will disappear.

Scoring

--- 1 Point for each remaining, unused Ether Crystal at the end of a round.
--- 10 Points for removing an opponent from the grid.
--- 1 Point for knocking the Etherball past the opponent on their side of the Grid. (Except for battle royale.)
--- 25 Points for removing two opponents from the grid with one attack.
--- 40 Points for removing three opponents from the grid with one attack.

Draw

A draw can occur when:
--- The remaining players are knocked from the grid simultaneously, leaving no victor or victor team in play.
--- Multiple players remain in play, but are so spread out on what is left of the Grid that they are too far apart to effectively remove the other player(s) from the Grid. (And the holes created in the grid are too large to jump over or around.)

When a draw occurs, the Etherball Grid is reset, Ether Crystals are restored at half count, and any players remaining in the draw are cleared to rejoin the session. However, if a player has been injured, they are allowed to be replaced by another player on the same team, if this is a team game.

Game Rules

• No Ether Abilities can be used. The only release of Ether should be when you need to charge an Ether Crystal. (Charging an Ether Crystal is done by simply touching it.)

• Movement assistance is strictly prohibited. This is a re-iteration of the first rule, but you must be sure to never have assistance with jumping, running, rolling, etc. while moving across the grid when your opponents are attempting to remove the squares that you are standing and/or walking on.

• Players (regardless if they are allies or opponents) cannot physically touch each other at any point in the game. Any contact will disqualify you from the round.

• You cannot share Ether Crystals with your allies. Each player is allotted a pouch of fifty crystals (sometimes more, if it's a one-on-one game).

Etherball Advanced


Advanced Etherball, which is rarely played in most casual games, is another popular form of the sport that is often held at international events. The differences from Advanced Etherball and normal Etherball are listed below.

• You can use your own Ether Abilities except for flight, levitation, gliding, etc. However, sliding, jumping, and other similar skills are approved.

• Added Ether Crystals.

• You are not allowed to harm your opponents with your Ether Abilities. Doing so will disqualify you from the entire game. (Not just a round.)

• The Ether Grid is not flat, but is in randomized terrain. This can include hills, minor pits/valleys, and so on. Additionally, there will be patches of different colored square grids. The colors are as follows:
Black = Indestructible (Cannot be Destroyed)
Green = Random Trap (Anchoring, Knockback, Slippery, etc.)
Yellow = Takes multiple hits to destroy.

Oowanshin


Compared to the collective knowledge of other prevalent civilizations, little is known about the Oowanshin and their genesis. It's believed that they originated off in the western island Ainu as the oldest dated artifacts were found there. The common story about the culture's beginning is that a king found it in himself to forgive the murderer of his son during battle with another kingdom. The gods bestowed otherworldly wisdom and power onto the king, deeming him the great prophet that would pass the knowledge of the gods to his people.

The king began a royal lineage that would inherit his powers and his wisdom, each member tasked with upholding the holy word and using their powers to protect their people. Unbeknownst to the king and his followers, he and those of his bloodline were gifted with the power to manipulate Chaos, a magical substance that balances out Ether and acts as its opposite. By this, the deity that granted the king his powers demanded that he practice a life of balance and harmony in order to obtain true fulfillment in his life. The deity's demands would be recorded as the Honmin Chongum, the code that describes how to achieve true happiness and realize one's purpose in life.

Over the centuries, the Honmin Chongum's details changed as it was translated repeatedly by different people, but the 3 core elements remained the same: Balance, Connection, and Meditation. To become one of the Oowanshin, one must only devote them self to follow the holy code and strive to obtain fulfillment each day. The average day of an Oowanshin starts with morning meditation, followed by the day's work, studying the Honmin Chongum, time to relax, and ending the day with self-evaluation and an evening prayer. Some people opt to meditate up to 3 times a day while others prefer training the body and the mind. However, all are expected to end the day with prayer.

The Main Offenses are heavily demonized, and include taking the life of another living being, lying, stealing, disrespecting one's superiors (be that one's (grand)parents, older siblings, leaders, etc.), gluttony, greed, vengeance, and malice (hatred is okay, as long as it's handled responsibly). If one commits an offense, the punishments range from meager reparations in money, work, material objects to lifelong sentences in reformation camps where the criminal undergoes years of meditation, hard labor, and scripture readings.

As the Oowanshin expanded across the water and into the mainland, they naturally had difficulties converting Etheriests due to how concentrated Chaos effects them, but Non-Etheriests and the rare Chaos user made up the bulk of the followers. Oowanshin-ism made some traction early on and spread along the coast, but it was met with backlash by other religious folk. As time passed, the Oowanshin and Chaos users grew in number, tolerating the received hatred. They were often claimed to worship demonic forces, the name "Chaos" being given to the Anti-Ether that the gifted Oowanshin were able to control.

Once science and logic took the forefront of common thought, both commoners and Chaos users practiced their religion less openly, believing in their peers and society more than their traditions. Today, Oowanshin practice their faith in secret because of their family or their dissatisfaction with society. Many stereotypes surround the organization, mostly ones that came from the old backlash while the religion gathered new followers, but nobody except those interested in the subject know the truth about them. There are many isolated villages and communities that dot the southwestern coast, and closet-Oowanshin spread deep into the more heavily populated cities, but an actual Oowanshin is an uncommon sight.

The Crucible


In the words of The Crucible's head researcher, Devin Amida, Etheriests are a force of nature that's yet to reach their full potential; a giant powder keg that can change the world for better or worse. That is why the Etheriest Combat Research Facility was created-to push Etheriests to the highest possible limits either through technology or different training techniques. In a world full of Etheriests, when a conflict breaks out of any scale, the Ether users will most likely come out on top. If Etheriests were to attack the country, the lives of Ether users and Non-Ether users alike will suffer. To prevent such an outcome, a militia of superior Etheriests is necessary.

The Zorlias Corporation is one of 25 sponsors that support the operations of the research facility, although Zorlias's contribution is the highest among the others. The other sponsors consist of other private companies that are involved in Ether and Etheriest services, but the leading scientists of The Crucible are hoping to have the government pay a large sum for patents and usage rights, while also bolstering the military might of their nation. Out in the wilderness in an undisclosed location, The Crucible stands as an underground network of living spaces, training rooms, storage bays, laboratories, and other necessary amenities. The only part of the complex above ground appears as a secluded office building with barbed fences, guards armed with rifles, and clear signs of restricted access. Large industrial fans pull fresh air and Ether into the complex. The fans are protected by slitted roofs that direct rain and snow to the ground.

Below ground, training Etheriests live each waking day within the confines of the facility. The average day starts with breakfast and a quick shower, followed by either physical training or Ether practice. The test subjects are split in half, one group going to the gym while the other goes to the danger room where they practice their ether abilities under the supervision of EC1 advisers. After lunch and a chance to convene with peers, the subjects are benchmarked and tested in the laboratories to try new developments and record results. To encourage improvement, the subjects are placed on several leaderboards in different disciplines, ranging from physical strength to intelligence to ether control. Benchmarking with a higher score will bump a subject up, but there is no way to move down the list without someone else moving up.

Each of the 50-some subjects are held to strict schedules that does allow for relaxation time among other subjects, but that isn't until the end of the day. Subjects are not allowed above ground unless they're given expressed permission, they're not to harm any of the staff, the other subjects, or themselves, and sexual relations of any kind is prohibited. Subjects are monitored through various security cameras hidden within ceilings and walls so that the etheriests can act without the psychological pressure of being watched. Trained guards watch the halls and the areas where Etheriests gather. Each guard is outfitted with military-grade body armor, semiautomatic rifles, and stun batons that deliver a paralyzing surge of electricity. In the event of a disobedient subject, the guards will attack with their batons, but if the subject proves to be a lethal threat, they're shot on the spot.

Any Etheriest aged 15 to 30 may become a subject, but new recruits are chosen and screened by a selection process. Subjects that become too old are released to any one of the facility's sponsors for a chance to get a job suited for them. However, the released subject is bound to a release contract where they are unable to release any information about the facility or their experience there.

Recently, the researchers began experimenting with supplements that boost physical strength as well as making one more sensitive to his/her aura. These supplements are intentionally infused with psychoactive chemicals that produce a sensation of dependency and anxiety after a certain amount of time passes. When one experiences withdrawal from their supplement, the effects depend on the individual. For now, only the younger subjects receive the drug, as the release process for an old subject would be more complicated than preferred. Several other projects are lead by other researches that answer to Dr. Amida. Some focus on technological enhancements that improve physical abilities while others aim to strengthen an Etheriest's aura or reduce Ether consumption. Only the most proficient and driven minds are offered a chance to work at the facility, while Etheriests from gifted and talented programs, orphaned Etheriests, juvenile delinquents, and the odd Etheriest selected by Amida himself are allowed to become subjects.

Jai Yeoung vs. Kyrie Va'an

Jai Yeoung's Culture is closest to a mixture of Chinese and Japanese culture, along with a bit of Indonesian mixed in. They are artistic in trades and deal with fine silks, jewelry that doesn't include gemstones, guns, and clothing. (Guns are legal in this country.) The Makarist churches are few and far between, as they usually have other religious temples, and there is only a single Kyrie Temple, which is by far the most grand in size and appearance of this hemisphere of Aria.

The leadership is run by their dictator, Ken Li, whom all of it's people have agreed is a righteous asshole. However, he keeps the country well protected from pirates that come from the west, as well as prevents famine and poverty better than any other of Aria's world countries.

Few have seen Ken Li in person, and he is well protected by the most powerful Etheriests that the world has known. They are known as the Kenguard, which are trained and taught in varying secretive ways with brutal methods and on private grounds. Many have attempted to assassinate Ken Li since the creation of the Kenguard. None have succeeded.

Kyrie Va'an, generally called "Vaan" for short, is a much larger country that mostly trades weapons, armor, gemstones, other mining materials, and Feore. Feore (Fee-ore) is a very rare gem that is mined near Hinterland that is not only the most valuable material on the planet, but also highly reactive to Etheriests. As the material has only been recently discovered, little else is known about it other than the fact that it effects Etheriests in some, mysterious way.

Additionally, the culture is like that of Americans, Europeans, and Australian mixed together. The most common religions are Makarist and Atheism. Makarist churches are on the rise, but Kyrie Temples are more prominent throughout. Kyrie temples are, modernly speaking, a combination of several things. They heal the sick, shelter the homeless for a time until they can help them find an abode, they protect victims of domestic violence, they offer prayer, Etheriest Healing training for Healer Etheriests, and much more.

Vaan is run by a President, his board of council representatives (one mayor from each major city forms this council), and the Kyrie Priests, all of which work together to assure religious, political, and world peace and economic stability. The current President is President Kean, a 43 year old man near the end of his term. Thus far, he has run the country fairly, but the country's economy during the man's rule has dropped significantly.

Wallace Photography Studio


Founded 40 years ago, the Wallace Photography Studio goes a way back and has been well established within the photography industry. Would it be business, fantasy, costumes or even some more sexy shots, they do a bit of everything with the key point to set good relationship and trust with their customers. Depending on the demand of number of pictures, if there is a lot of things to edit or not and the current orders, the time to receive the pictures can vary and can sometimes take time. They are always worth the time however as the young Eleanor Wallace always try to make her models shine at their best. She is the daughter of the well known Leon Wallace who have been less and less active due to some degenerative illness making it difficult to work long shift and take pictures in weird positions.

Regardless of what people could think, the studio have pretty affordable rates that pretty much anyone could access easily. They are also constantly on high demand because of this, but they always do their best to deliver.
